Klook guide: what it’s best for, how to get the lowest price, and where to use it

Klook is the largest booking platform for things to do in Asia-Pacific, and it has quietly become one of the cheapest places to buy attraction tickets, airport transfers, rail passes and travel SIMs almost anywhere. If your trip touches Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Australia or Dubai, it is usually the first place to check before paying at the gate.

This guide covers what Klook is actually good for, where it is not the best deal, how to get the lowest price, and the categories worth checking city by city.

What Klook is

Klook is a Hong Kong-founded marketplace where local operators list activities, tickets and transport, and Klook sells them with instant e-vouchers. It is not a tour company; it is the storefront. The strength is scale: theme parks, museums, observation decks, cooking classes, day trips, ferries, trains, airport transfers, and connectivity, mostly at or below the walk-up price because operators pay Klook commission to fill capacity.

Vouchers are delivered to the app and email within minutes for most listings, and many attractions let you scan the QR code at the gate, skipping the ticket queue entirely.

What it is best for

  • Theme park and attraction tickets: Universal Studios Japan, Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, Universal Studios Singapore, Gardens by the Bay, Burj Khalifa, Sydney Opera House tours. Often cheaper than the gate and frequently the only way to get dated tickets without queuing.
  • Airport transfers: fixed-price private cars and shared shuttles at major Asian airports, booked in advance in your currency. Cheaper and less stressful than taxis at Bangkok, Bali or Kuala Lumpur.
  • Rail passes and train tickets: the JR Pass, regional Japan passes, Taiwan High Speed Rail, Korea’s KTX and airport express tickets, usually with a discount over the counter price.
  • SIM cards and eSIMs: pre-ordered data SIMs collected at the airport, or eSIMs delivered by email. Consistently cheaper than airport kiosks.
  • Day tours and experiences: Mount Fuji, Ha Long Bay, Phi Phi islands, Great Ocean Road. Compare operators side by side with reviews.

Attractions and theme parks
Dated tickets for the big parks sell out weeks ahead in peak season. Buying on Klook locks the date and skips the gate queue.

Where it is not the best deal

Hotels and flights. Klook sells both, but it is not a metasearch and rarely wins on price. Use a comparison search for those and use Klook for everything you do once you arrive.

Europe and the Americas are improving but thinner. For Paris, Rome or New York, Klook has the headline attractions, but GetYourGuide and the official sites often match or beat it. In Asia-Pacific, Klook is the default.

How to get the lowest price on Klook

  1. Use the app for the first booking. New-user and app-only discounts are common and stack with promo codes.
  2. Check the deals page and promo codes before checkout. Codes rotate weekly; a 5–10% code on a family’s worth of park tickets is real money.
  3. Buy bundles. Attraction + transfer or multi-park passes are priced below the individual items.
  4. Collect Klook credits. Reviews and bookings earn credits that discount later purchases.
  5. Book dated tickets early in peak season. Prices rarely rise, but availability disappears.
  6. Pay in your card’s currency. Klook lets you choose the checkout currency; picking your home currency avoids a double conversion.

Promo codes and app deals
The fastest saving on Klook is a promo code applied at checkout. They change often, so check right before you pay.

Booking, vouchers and cancellation

Most listings show one of three labels: instant confirmation, confirmation within 24–48 hours, or open-dated. Instant is what you want for anything time-sensitive. Vouchers appear in the app under Bookings; keep the QR code available offline. Cancellation terms are set per listing — many attraction tickets are non-refundable once issued, while tours and transfers often allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Read the line under the price before you pay.

Is Klook legitimate and safe?

Yes. It is a large, established company operating since 2014, with payment handled by Klook rather than the local operator, English-language support, and buyer protection if an operator fails to deliver. As with any marketplace, check the operator’s reviews on the listing for tours and transfers.

Frequently asked questions

Is Klook cheaper than buying at the attraction?

Usually, and often by 5–15% once a promo code is applied. The exceptions are attractions with fixed government pricing, where Klook matches the gate but still saves the queue.

How fast do I get my voucher?

Instant-confirmation listings deliver within minutes. Listings marked “confirmation within 24–48 hours” are operator-confirmed; book those at least three days out.

Can I cancel a Klook booking?

It depends on the listing. Look for “free cancellation” in the listing details; many dated attraction tickets are non-refundable once issued.

Does Klook work outside Asia?

Yes, with growing coverage in Europe, the US, Australia and the Middle East. Inventory is deepest in Asia-Pacific.

Do I need the app?

No, but the app has exclusive prices and keeps vouchers offline, so it is worth installing for the trip.
